EASTVIEW OUTDOOR ED

Welcome to Eastview Outdoor Ed!

This Grade 11 program, at Eastview Secondary School, offers two credits: PAD3O and SVN3M.  To gain their credits, students will engage in adventure and new learning opportunities, using the great outdoors. Leadership, friendships and lifelong skills are added bonuses. We are so lucky to live where we do. Algonquin Park is our neighbour and there are so many other provincial parks, lakes and trails on our doorstep. Follow along on our social media sites to see our adventures!

About PAD3O - Healthy Living and Outdoor Activities

PAD3O is a physical education course which offers students the opportunity to experience outdoor course concepts such as tandem flat-water canoeing, nutrition, meal planning, Leave No Trace camping, classical & Nordic cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, rock climbing, hiking and orienteering. Compulsory field trips are integral components of this course and are two to four days in length, running during the week. The order and type of outdoor activities offered will vary from year to year and are weather dependent.

About The Teacher

Hey everyone, Ms. Williamson here. Super excited for the adventures and activities we will be doing as a class. Outdoor education has been a passion of mine for years. Having camped and canoed from the age of 6, I started working at summer camps and leading kids in canoe trips and outdoor skills. I've cycled across Canada (8000km), climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and the Inca Ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru. After travelling to over 30 countries, I gained a love for hiking and have completed multi-day solo hiking trips in the backcountry in Algonquin Park. I recently became certified in leading low ropes courses and look forward to taking you all through the amazing course at the Board Office.
I love using the outdoors to invoke curiosity and learning in students. I really hope everyone enjoys the program and gains a new found passion for the outdoors and for learning and adventure.
