Yesterday the Boys Varsity hockey team played their first playoff game against the Nantyr Shores Tritons.  The boys started with a little rust and by the end of the 1st period were trailing the Tritons 1-0.

However, the Wildcats came out in the beginning of the 2nd period and began to claw their way back into the game with 2 goals from Ethen.  The boys continued their dominant play on into the 3rd period with another 3 unanswered goals. Third period goals came from Garin, Cal and Ethen , who was able to complete the hat trick.  Final score of the game was  6-1.  The Wildcats received another stellar goaltending outing from Jake. Player of the Game mentions go out to both Ethen and Garin for not only their goals but also with their leadership and strong team play.

Next up is the SCAA final.

Yesterday, Eastview's Nordic Ski Team traveled to Hardwood to compete in the GBSSA Championships. Ms. Roth wants to say Congratulations to her team as they all did extremely well and 6 of them have qualified for OFSSA.

In the Junior Girls’ race, Holly  placed 3rd in the open category, and Anna placed 4th.  Nari placed 7th in the high school category with Addison placing 15th. The junior girls team also place 3rd as a team overall and 3rd in the relay. Awesome job girls.  In the junior boys category, Ewan  placed 6th overall in a very competitive field. Finally, in the senior boys category, Cooper  placed 3rd and Tilson  placed 5th. Amazing! Looking forward to OFSSA tomorrow!

Yesterday afternoon, the Junior Girls Volleyball team traveled to Maple Ridge to compete in the SCAA Finals. After a bit of a slow start in the first set, the team rebounded and managed to take the second.  Unfortunately, the next two games showed that it was not meant to be for the Wildcats, as Maple Ridge came away with a 3 set to 1 victory.

Although this was not the outcome we were hoping for, the team should feel extremely proud of an outstanding season, that included highlights such as an Eastview vs Eastview Championship at the Cities tournament last month.  The coaches would like to thank all 14 incredibly talented players who fought hard throughout an exciting and memorable season.

Finally, we’d like to wish all the best to Paige, Brooke, Maggie , Ayla , Anne, Rylee and Lilly as they move up to Senior next year!  The future continues to look bright for Eastview Girls Volleyball!

Hey Eastview! Did you know it takes 17 trees to make 1 ton of paper?! The next time you go to recycle paper, ask yourself if it could be used again before it is recycled. Is it still good to use on one side? If so, place it in one of our bright green GOOS (Good On One Side) paper bins! If you’re interested in helping to make more GOOS paper bins, come join the Ecoteam today at the start of lunch in room 244 to take steps forward in reducing paper waste in our school.

Last week on Thursday afternoon, the Junior Girls Volleyball team hosted the Barrie North Vikings in what turned out to be the most exciting match so far this season.  The girls came out strong, and dominated the first set winning by a score of 25-15.  North fought back, taking 2 of the next 3, which set up a final and deciding 5th set.  Despite establishing a solid lead, North refused to give up and fought back to a 14-14 tie.  The teams then traded points back and forth, until Eastview was finally able to come away with a 22-20 win.

A huge congratulations to the entire team for a hard fought and exciting victory.  Tonight we travel to Maple Ridge for the SCAA Championship.  Go Wildcats!
