Yesterday the Boys Wildcat hockey team traveled to the Sadlon Centre to take on our Grove Street rival the Barrie North Vikings for the SCAA Championship. The boys came out and dominated early and carried the play into the Vikings end of the rink putting them on their heels. The Wildcats struck first with a goal from Cole in the first period.
The Wildcats continued to dominate game play into the second period and continued to limit the Vikings ability to get back into the game. Half way through the period the Emerton brothers connected on a goal with Cole throwing a pass to his brother Jack increasing the lead to 2 to nothing.
The third period saw the Wildcats continue to push for a victory. With under 2 minutes left Cole scored an empty net goal to end the game for a 3 - 0 Wildcat win. Once again, Jake had an outstanding game in net to earn the shutout.
Next game for the Wildcat boys will be next Tuesday March 7, facing Joan of Arc for the Georgian Bay Championship and a chance to earn a berth at the OFSAA Ontario hockey championships in Welland.

Congratulations to the members of our swim team who participated in OFSAA this week. The Eastview team was small, but mighty! All 6 members swam incredibly well, with special highlights given to Alex and Sydney for finishing high in their finals events, to Charlee for her ribbon achievement and to Sydney for her gold medal swim in the 100 meter butterfly. The fly is the toughest swim stroke, and Sydney is top in Ontario! Amazing effort team!

On Monday and Tuesday, the Alpine Ski team experienced some thrills and spills at the OFSAA championships in Collingwood.
The high school trained girls were challenged on Monday with a difficult slalom race and despite having limited experience the team managed an amazing 5th place finish out of 16 teams! Individually, Katie continued to impress with a 6th place finish in a field of 90 competitors.
On Tuesday the girls competed against strong competition in a giant slalom race and finished in 7th. Congratulations to Nele, Ava, Maxima , Claire and Katie for a very respectable showing at their first OFSAA event.
Eastview was also represented by an Open level boys’ team who competed on some very steep and difficult courses against some of the best skiers in the province. Unfortunately, with only 3 skiers, there was little room for error, and they had difficulty competing as a team.
In the tight slalom course on Monday, Ryney and Lucas managed very respectable 17th and 26th place finishes in a field of 70 competitors. On Tuesday, the team competed in the very fast giant slalom event where Lucas finished in 32nd. Congratulations to Lucas, Lucas and Ryney for their courage to launch themselves down those hills and for a great race season.
Mrs. Dawson and Mr. Darlington would like to thank all of our skiers for a terrific season of ski racing and for representing Eastview so well.

Hey Wildcats, today is the last day of Black History Month. This has been a great month to reflect and educate ourselves on Black History. The first ever black woman in the house of commons, Jean Augustine once said "Black history is not just for black people, black history is Canadian history." This quote diminishes the stigma that black history isn't also Canadian history and breaks the dividing barrier. Remember wildcats, February shouldn't be the only time we recognize and celebrate black excellence, although February has come to an end, let's remember to still recognize and celebrate black excellence in everyday within our community.
