The junior boys basketball team played a hard fought highly competitive match last night against their rivals, the Innisdale Invaders, for the SCAA finals and to win a chance at the GBSSA final next week.
This was the match we had been waiting for after playing innisdale four times over the regular season and only beating them once.
The junior boys had to come out with all they had last night and they sure did.   Right from the jump ball to the final buzzer, the wildcats moved the ball with precision speed and accuracy, and shot lights out all night long.   On defense, the wildcats refused to let the Invaders into the paint and kept a tight leash on them on the perimeter.    All of that combined with grit, determination and a strong energy from the bench allowed Eastview to maintain control throughout the game and emerge with a 59-47 victory.
The Invaders could not control the offensive push by Liam Alexander who dominated the net with 19 points and Patrick Nightingales 16 points and two key three pointers in the second half simply was too much for the Invaders to handle.   Cal McArthur controlled the game with his patience and strategic play.  Coach K and coach A are super proud of the boys as we refocus for the GBSSA final next week.  Way to go fellas!!

Congratulations to the junior girls volleyball team who defended their SCAA title with a thrilling 5 set victory over their cross town rivals from Bear Creek.  It was the teams' 4th straight SCAA Championship.  After convincingly winning the first two sets the girls came within two points of sweeping the match in the 3rd when a scrappy Bear Creek team roared back to win.  A 27-25 loss in the 4th set meant a 5th and deciding set would be needed.  Undaunted by the surging Kodiacs the girls showed their champion form coming back to win 15-9 in the deciding set.  The girls will now play St Peter's for the GBSSA title, right here at Eastview, on Monday with a 4:30 start time. The girls would love to see all of their fans, and more back for this Championship Match.  Let's pack the house.  Make plans on Monday to come cheer the girls on to victory!

Yesterday our girls hockey team defeated Orillia 2-0 to win the SCAA championship. Goalie Faith Miller earned the shutout. Goals were scored by Shannon Prouty and Jenna Mowat. It was an amazing victory and coaches Carl and Hargreaves are extremely proud of the team. They will now face St Petes on Tuesday March 5th for the GBSSA championship – way to go Wildcats!

The Boys Hockey Team want to congratulate our Wildcat Girls on their hard fought SCAA Championship! Way to go Cats!
Also Congratulations to our Wildcat Boys on their quarter final victory over Nantyr Shores.  The Boys dominated the game from puck drop to final whistle.  Excellent work Boys!
The Boys will travel up to Collingwood on Monday for their semi-final game against the Fighting Owls.  Puck drop is at 2:00pm at the Eddie Bush Arena. Go Get 'Em Cats!

Last Thursday the Senior Boys Basketball team traveled to Orillia to compete in their second round of playoffs. Going up against the undefeated OSS team, the boys anticipated a battle. Coaches were optimistic and excited to have the entire roster of starters in attendance. Despite having an amazing game and returning to the team we saw earlier in the season, time on the clock ran out and it wasn't enough to grab the win - ending the game with a score of 62 to 47 for OSS. Your coaches are incredibly proud of all this team has had to overcome during these last five months! This is not the end - and we are very much looking forward to having almost everyone back & healthy next year. It was an incredible season where we bounced from winning two tournaments, winning back to back league games, to barely having a long enough bench to play. The season ended on a high, having the entire team come together once again to really demonstrate the talent of Eastview Basketball. Thanks for a great season - team members of Kareem Greene-Blake, Sam Sax-Martin, Adriano Silfa-Zambri, Brady Swain, Jack Rissanen, Joan Colominas, Luke Hastings, Nathen Tucker, Victor Oyebolu and Dan Kauffman.
Please return both sets of uniforms to Ms. Stam in the Resource Room at your earliest convenience!

Congratulations to the junior girls volleyball team who punched their ticket to the SCAA finals with a convincing 3-0 win over Orillia yesterday afternoon.  The SCAA finals will be played at Eastview at 3:00 vs Bear Creek.  The girls would love to see many fans in the stands cheering them on to victory.  Volleyball fans make plans to attend and support the team!  Go girls!

The wildcat junior boys Basketball team participated in the semi finals for SCAA last night against the barrie north Vikings.   The cats got off to a slow start on offense but their determination on defense kept us in control of the game.  The wildcats never lost their stride beating the Vikings 60-42.    Kevin Shang had his best game of the season on offense and Jayden Scobie as a defensive star against north’s strongest player.   Coach K and Coach A are very proud of the boys.   Practice after school Wednesday to prepare for our big battle against innisdale on Thursday for the SCAA championship and a chance to compete in the GBSSA final. Keep fighting wildcats!

The boys and girls curling teams mercilessly squashed the hopes and dreams of their opponents last week in the Semi-final playoff game and have advanced to the South Zone Finals.
Please wish both teams good luck today as they take on Nantyr at 3pm on home ice.  Players are excused from class at 2pm.

Yesterday our girls hockey team defeated Bear Creek 2-0. This was a great team effort. Alexa Pongo scored our first goal assisted by Shayla Koski-Arges and Kennedy Lynch scored late to seal the victory. Goalie Faith Miller was outstanding in net. Kayli Sutton won several key face-offs and Seniors Gracyn Emmerton Jenna Mowat played strong games. The team hosts Orillia on Thursday for the SCAA Championship – Good luck Wildcats!
