The junior boys basketball team took part in the Barrie city championships this weekend. In their first game on Friday night against St Joes, the wildcats looked shaky in the first half but managed to take control and dominated offensively in the second, beating St Joes by a score of 51-46.   Offense was led by Patrick Nightingale and Jayden Scobie. Darius Kent and  Graham Galloway were defensive stars.

On Saturday the action continued as the wildcats faced off against the St Pete’s Panthers.   The wildcats carried the game away beating St. Pete’s by a score of 70-45.  Cal McArthur simply dominated the offense scoring 24 points followed by Liam Alexander who netted 12.
That set the stage for the championship game on Saturday night against our rivals, the Innisdale Invaders.   The battle for the City Championship was intense throughout the game with the wildcats keeping up with the Invaders offensive push.  But the invader defense got the best of us and we just couldn’t get through to the net.  Final score was a heartbreaking 54-58 for the Invaders.  Offensive leader of the final game was Patrick Nightingale with 12 points.   Special recognition goes to Braydon Folliott who netted two key baskets for us in the first half to keep us within reach. Jayden Scobie and Matt Higgs were defensive stars in the final match.   But it was the wildcat bench that was the star of the tournament with amazing support and encouragement for their teammates on the floor.
Playoffs this week boys.  Let’s go get em!   Come cheer on your junior boys on Tuesday in the main gym!
