The Boys Hockey Team travelled to Orillia yesterday to take on OSS.  After a slow start the Boys were down by one.  The Wildcats fought back and tied the game up, but struggled to pot another goal despite dominating their opponents in the last period of play.  In the end, both teams skated to a 1-1 draw.  Have a Great Christmas Break Fellas and we'll see you on the ice in the New Year.

Congratulations to all our swimmers who competed at the GBSSA championships this past Tuesday. All swimmers demonstrated great sportsmanship and swam amazing races. A special congratulations to our open swimmers who are GBSSA champions and to all those who will be moving on to OFSAA in March: Jordyn Hunter, Lauren Nelson, Mia MacDonald, Molly Trayling, Matea Tettman, Ryan Bujold, Hanna Rissanen, Rowan Hart, Claire Steciuk, and Megan Widmer. Great effort from everyone, see you tonight at practice!

From rookie racers to veteran victories - it was day of celebration - both on and off the podium at the first Nordic race of the season!
Top performances included Leyla Barber taking gold in the Senior Girls race - and newcomer Gillian Evans taking bronze in the Novice Girls category. Eric Good finished a strong 6th in a very competitive junior boys field.
Ms Shami and Mr. Trayling would like to thank everyone for their strong effort - especially those who experienced their first races.
A reminder that we practice tonight, and that we are always looking for students who want to come out and have fun learning a new sport!

Yesterday the Senior Boys Basketball team travelled to Bradford to take on the Buccaneers. With two key injured players out for now, the boys anticipated a battle. After the first quarter of play, the boys were able to match point for point, with Brady Swain & Jack Rissanen putting 14 points on the board. However some unfortunate turnovers in the second quarter allowed for Bradford to take the lead. While we were able to keep a close scoring gap and fight hard in the last half of the game, the boys unfortunately ran out of time to take the lead and ended the well fought game with a score of 56 to 58. An unfortunate loss, but your coaches are proud of how the team continues to build & work together to overcome obstacles. Enjoy your break & look forward to seeing a full team in the new year, healthy and rested!

Now for a Boys Hockey Update:
The Boys traveled to Midland yesterday for the St. Theresa's Christmas Classic.  In their first game the Wildcats faced off against the Jean Vanier Storm and came up short in a 2-1 loss.  In their next game, the Boys rallied for a 5-1 route of the Georgain Bay Bears. In the A Championship, the Wildcats would once again line up against Jean Vanier and this time made no mistake, blowing the Storm out 4-2.  Way to go Cats and good luck today against OSS.

The junior boys basketball team continued their winning streak against Bradford last night in a score of 60-44.  While the cats got off to a very slow start, the offensive push of Cal McArthur, Graeme Galloway and Kevin Shang changed the tone of the game.
As coach K says, defense wins games and it was the defensive energy of Gibby Grigoriadis and Matt Higgs that controlled the pace of the second half.
Great work boys!   No practice Wednesday.  See you Thursday right after school.

Yesterday our girls team had an amazing performance, as we were missing 7 players. Despite the short bench, the team rallied after falling behind 1-0 to defeat Banting 3-1. Goal scorers we were Audrey Busby, Shayla Koski-Arges and Emma Campbell. Defence Abi Fenik and Abbi Fee were great as were goalies Faith Miller and Hunter Northcott.
Coaches Hargreaves and Carl wish the team Happy Holidays and look forward to resuming hockey in the new year!

Please see Coach Beer for a brief but important meeting in Room 217 at the beginning of 3rd period. Thanks.

The Eastview Junior Boys Basketball team participated in the Georgian Grizzlies tournament this weekend.     Losing their opening match against the Innisdale Invaders on Thursday made a trip to the final seem unlikely.  But the wildcats never quit, beating Notre Dame in the second game by 7 points, and thumping the Nantyr Tritons by 45 points in a game that was nothing but net for the wildcats.
In the semi final game against Chippewa, Eastview got off to a flat start but in the second half, some gritty man to man defense helped them to clinch a spot in the final.
And what a final it was! Eastview met Innisdale again for the third time in three days but the wildcats were determined this time to find a way to shut down the innisdale offense.   Eastview took charge right from the beginning, controlling both the pace and energy of the game.   It was a nail biter throughout but the wildcat pressure in the final minutes led to a 7 point victory to win the game AND the tournament.
All Star of the game was awarded to Liam Alexander and tournament MVP was Cal McArthur.   Coach K is so proud of the collective efforts of this team and the gritty defense that really was the deciding factor in this tournament.  Light practice tonight from 5-6:30 in preparation for Bradford tomorrow.  Go cats!
