Today, we join together to raise awareness for Red Dress Day. On this day, we want to spread awareness of the missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two spirited individuals across Canada. The first known victim is someone you all have heard of; Matoaka, or as you know her by: Pocahontas. She was 11 years old when she was taken from her home and sustained years of harsh treatment. We will take time on this today to recognize these women, girls, and two spirited individuals who lost their lives and endured horrendous treatment. We will also take time to recognize the families that will never get to see their wives, daughters, mothers, children, friends, and families.

We ask that in recognition, you wear red to show awareness for the missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two spirited individuals. Red pins will be distributed to each first period class, we ask that you wear them.

Did you notice the RED DRESSES hanging around the school this morning and wonder why? Today is National Day of Awareness of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls in Canada. Also known as RED DRESS DAY, the red dress acts as a VISUAL reminder of all the missing women, girls, and Two-Spirit people. For more information, scan the QR code found on the dresses.

If you are wearing red in honour of Red Dress Day, we thank you and please come down to the cafeteria during the start of 2nd period for 10 minutes while we take a photo to recognize this day. That is the start of 2nd period in the cafeteria.

Hey Wildcats!  It's Children's Mental Health Week

It's also Fruit Friday this week, Wildcats.  Eating well supports our overall physical and mental health.    Check your school email today for the fruit and vegetable trivia questions. Answer the questions each day and then bring your responses to Guidance on Friday for your chance to win a prize! Hey wildcats, make sure to get some tasty treats today during lunch, in the main foyer, in honour of mental health awareness month. Remember, profits go to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Simcoe County Branch. You can access resources at our table, and resources will be shared on the leadership board throughout the month.

The Knitting Club will meet tomorrow and every Thursday in room 181 at lunchtime.  Everyone is welcome!

Hey Wildcats! The students from Ms. Luscombe's Challenge and Change class are asking for your help to reach their donation goal of 250 items for the Women and Children's Shelter and the Busby Centre! They want to also note that the Women's Shelter has reached out and they need baby wipes! Keep it up and continue to be a part of the change in your community! Check out their Instagram page at essdonationdrive for more information and some donation suggestions. More information and updates will come soon!
