Diabetes Awareness Month: What is the difference between type one and type two diabetes? People with type 1 diabetes, their immune system mistakes their body’s healthy cells for invaders. Due to these invading beta cells, they're unable to produce any insulin. People with type 2 diabetes have insulin resistance, where their body can't use the insulin that it produces. Type 1 you are born with while type 2 you develop over time. We encourage you to make others aware and/or make a donation this month.
