Are you in grade 9 or 10 and need help with math?  Eastview can help!  Starting on November 23rd, extra help will be offered to grade 9 and 10 students three times a week, every other week, during lunch.  Tuesdays and Thursdays are designated for grade 9 math students.  During the lunch hour you can get assistance on specific topics like integers.  On Wednesdays, grade 10s who would like support with math can get help with questions and assignments.  See your math teacher for a form to sign-up.  If you don’t have math this week, no worries, there are extra forms in the office.  All completed forms can be given to Ms. Williamson in the main office.

Spirit wear! Spirit Wear! Spirit Wear! That’s right wildcats, our online store is up and running again! Make sure to check out the sweatshirts, sweatpants, accessories, and more so you can be rocking the new wildcat look! You can find the store through our school website. The deadline for orders is November 15th, that’s next Monday!

Did you miss getting your picture taken on Picture Day?  Do you want to have your picture re-taken?  If so, check your school email for a link to book your appointment.  Picture re-takes will be held on November 23 in room 108.

WILDCATS, STOP SHAVING THOSE MUSTACHES, IT'S MOVEMBER!!  The Leadership class is having a moustache growing competition to spread awareness for men’s mental health and suicide prevention, testicular cancer, and prostate cancer. The non-competitive vocal ensemble meets at the start of lunch today in room 204. New members are welcome.

The Eastview Remembrance Day ceremony will be live streamed at 9:45 this morning. Teachers are asked to check their email for the link and are encouraged to join roughly five minutes in advance.

The senior boys volleyball team takes on Barrie North in the SCAA final TONIGHT in our home gym. Look for the blue shirts in the halls today and wish the boys luck!

Coach Hargreaves and Coach Wilson would like to thank the girls who came out to the hockey tryouts this past week. The list of successful players will be posted at lunch today outside the two gyms. We have a practice on Tuesday, November 16 at 3:30. Let's try and get everyone out to have one full team practice before our season starts.

This is a very important message for the jr girls basketball team (make that – the scaa champion jr girls….more details to follow on Monday announcements). Please meet in room 239 at the start of lunch. That’s room 239 at 10:43.  See you there.

Reminder to Gr 11 and 12 Boys interested in playing basketball this year, open gym sessions will continue today at 4:30pm.

It’s Wellness Wednesday, and your wellness tip of the day, is “Try new things with an open mind”. When you do this, you might surprise yourself by finding fun in unexpected places. Also the Eastview Wellness Team is introducing a “Stress Busters group”!  Every Wednesday at lunch, starting TODAY, students who are interested in learning a little more about stress and strategies to cope with stress are invited to come to room 158 (the dance room) on Wednesdays at 11:00.  Eat your lunch first, and then come in and join some stress reduction activities. Everyone is welcome!!

Senior Girls Volleyball.  The senior girl's volleyball team will have their first tryout on Monday November the 15th right after school in the front gym.  If you are unable to attend, please let Mr. Kalbfleisch know. 

Today we have Fleming College joining us virtually in the Guidance Department at 11:00.

Are you thinking about a career in Health Care? Possibly as an EA, ECE, DWS or Child Developmental Practitioner? There will be a presentation offered this Wednesday by the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program. If you are interested please sign up on the sheet outside Rm 106 or speak to your guidance councellor.

The Simcoe County District School Board acknowledges each individual’s right to follow or not to follow religious beliefs and practices, free from discriminatory, exclusionary or harassing behaviours and is committed to taking all reasonable steps to provide religious accommodation to staff and students. Through the Equity Survey and student conversation, it has been identified that our building was lacking in a non-denominational prayer/meditation room. We are pleased to share that this is now available to our staff and students in the back of the library in what was previously known as the career centre. This prayer space is for students and staff of all faiths, including those with no faith affiliation, for the purposes of prayer and reflection. If you have any questions please come see one of the administrators in the office.

School Picture retake day is November 23rd. Grad Photo retakes will happen at the beginning of semester 2.

Attention those players interested in playing intramural hockey.  Tomorrow will be the first ice time of this month which starts at 3:30 and runs to 4:30 PM at Eastview arena.  Please see Mr. Wilson, Mr. Kucharski or Mr. Beer for concussion forms which must be signed and submitted before stepping on the ice.

The girls trying out for the Eastview Varsity Hockey team are reminded of the second tryout today at 3:30 at the Eastview Arena.  If you are unable to attend, and haven’t already talked to one of the coaches, please do so today.

Last Friday our Junior Wildcat Football Team faced the Collingwood Fighting Owls in SCAA semi-final playoff action. The Wildcats started slowly but roared back in the second half. Ultimately however, the Eastview comeback would fall short and the Owls prevailed, ending the WIldcats' season. The coaches are very proud of all members of the team and would like to thank them for a tremendous season. Players - stay tuned for more announcements regarding a team wind-up as well as off-season plans.

There will be no video games club after school today.  Sorry for the short notice—we’ll be back together next Tuesday!!

A reminder to tech team members who are available after school today that we will be doing some setup in the cafe right after school in preparation for Remembrance Day.

Lost items: If anyone has lost a coat, black shoes or a lulu lemon jacket, please see Ms. Hargreaves in the gym office to describe and claim these items.

Orchestra Practice in room 202 is cancelled after school today.  Once again our regular Orchestra Practice is canceled for today.  See you Thursday for Orchestra and String Ensemble.

A reminder to please remain standing in the halls if you are not in your classroom during the announcements.

Today, November the 8, is Indigenous Veterans Day in Canada.  On this day, we pay tribute to the important contributions and the sacrifices made by First Nations, Inuit and Métis in service to Canada.  We remember those we have lost and those whose lives were forever changed. We hold their loved ones, families and communities in our hearts.

Attention Gr. 12 potential graduates: University PIN numbers will be distributed to Gr. 12 U and M classes in the first block of period 3 this morning.  If you do not get one from your teacher, or you are in a class where PINs are not delivered, please come to Guidance at lunch to pick yours up.  Please do not come before lunch.  And please remember, PINs are only required for applying to Ontario universities.  If you are applying to college you DO NOT need a PIN.  Make an appointment to see your Guidance Counsellor using our Google Form process if you have any questions.  Thanks!

Happy Monday, Wildcats! Today we meet again for the Inquisitor’s Club. Join in after school at 2:45 in room 181.

Attention any Gr 11 and 12 boys interested in playing basketball this year . . . Open gym drop-ins will begin today from 3-4:30pm. These are not tryouts (those will come in the future), but a chance to work on some skills and drills and meet the coaches. For those of you currently playing on fall school teams - your commitment should continue to be there until the end of your season (ie volleyball/football). Any questions, please see Ms. Stam in Resource. No sign ups required! See you in the gym at 3pm.

CONGRATULATIONS to Fruit Friday winners, and to everyone else who chooses to include FRUIT in their lunch menu.  Eating well helps reduce the risk of physical health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. It also helps with sleeping patterns, energy levels & your general health.  Our next FRUIT FRIDAY is Friday, November 19.  Watch your SCDSB email for details.
